The Pan Island Link 2 and 2A will form the Southern Ring Road for Penang island, and cater to future development in Balik Pulau and Teluk Kumbar.

The road will enhance accessibility and open up development opportunities in the southern region of the island, helping to take away development pressure from the northeast district and George Town.

Both PIL 2 and 2A are also proposed to connect with Islands A and B of the Penang South Reclamation.

The two components are still at proposal stage and subject to approval and changes in the future.
